I’ve got some ideas for some apps on my iPhone. This means I need to learn Swift. I was trying to learn Swift earlier, but also Python at the same time, and since these were my first coding languages, it was messing me up in the brain. So I put Swift aside to focus onContinue reading “Python is squeezing my patience”
“In moments of discouragement defeat or even despair there are always certain things to cling to. Little things usually: remembered laughter, the face of a sleeping child, a tree in the wind in fact, any reminder of something deeply felt or dearly loved. No man is so poor as not to have many of theseContinue reading “In moments of discouragement defeat or even despair”
Day 1. Let’s see if I can get this going. I’m not sure what effect OPTEMPO will have, but at least I can write a loop. It’s basic to everyone else, but I’m starting out. And I got tripped up by forgetting the colon after the while. Sheesh.
The first project, Jubilee Austen, was done and now it was time to do the Rogue Picking project. Whereas before we were given helpful guides, hints, and fill in the blank code blocks with the Jubilee Austen project, this time we were to do it all on our own. I felt confident going in. AfterContinue reading “Lets Make a Website!”
I’m taking a course in SkillCrush in front-end webdev. I really enjoy it. The atmosphere is open and inviting and helpful. I heartily recommend their products. However, it’s been said in the course that one needed a laptop and not an iPad. I know that there are many people that work solely from iPads andContinue reading “Web dev on an iPad 2”
Deployment is going well. It could be worse. It could be better. I’ve had both. Currently I am the Platoon Sergeant of a platoon and our mission is base operations. It takes a good chunk of time out of my day. So does everyone else’s jobs. I’m fortunate in that I have some good NCOsContinue reading “dusty”
I freaking love Apple gear. Seriously. I’m a fanboy, but not on the level of most anyone else. I don’t own an old Macintosh, don’t have a collection of iPods, and there’s not a poster of “Think Different” on my wall (though perhaps…). I love the design of what Apple puts out. I love theirContinue reading “learning Python and holding off on Swift”
March 10, 2020 I launched doogooder.design. For a half dozen or so years I’ve worked a variety of jobs that had a great synergy with each other. I ran the resilience program in the Oregon National Guard, I operated as part of a veteran resource group, I was a co-facilitator of a veteran domestic violenceContinue reading “doGooder”
I am planning on moving to southern Oregon when I return from deployment. I was responding to an email from my Sweetheart about the move, stating that I’ve been pondering a move to a couple of different locations for a while now. On my list of places were Portland, Sisters, Bend, Eugene (always a softContinue reading “Moving to Ashland, OR? Perhaps…”
When I return to Oregon I plan to move to southern Oregon in the Medford/Central Point region. There’s a wonderful human being down there that I am keen to get closer than a three-hour drive to. I’d would like to find what local options there may be in the region for web development, but I’ll likely spend a lot of time looking for remote/WFH/freelance. Who knows, perhaps I’ll even start my own freelance business. We’ll see. I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a metric ton of negative self-talk going on in my head. But I’ve got to put those to the side and push through.
